Couples massage is one of the most popular services in the spa world right now. Two people are massaged in the same room, at the same time, by two different therapists. While many who use couples massages are husband and wife, it is also great for girlfriend and boyfriend, same-sex partners, or even moms and daughters.

Sometimes one person who loves massage will use the couples massage as a way to introduce a partner who has never gotten a massage before. This may be more comfortable the first time. Some men are apprehensive about getting a massage because of the possible nudity involved, and to have their wife or girlfriend there is reassuring. Once men discover that therapeutic touch is very relaxing and restorative, they are more willing to request one on their own.

As for couples massage etiquette, it's fine to talk to each other through the massage if you want, but some prefer to be quiet for most or all of the treatment session. It's really up to you. Discuss it beforehand and agree to respect each others boundaries.
